Former Prime minister Raila Odinga is working on two-pronged strategy to win the next presidential general election slated for August 8 2017.
The first option envisages that a number of leaders will enter into a coalition agreement with Cord principals namely Raila, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka parties to forge a strong outfit to challenge Uhuru Kenyatta in his bid for a second and last term.
The move is geared towards rebranding the opposition ahead of 2017 polls as Raila seeks his fourth stab at the presidency which has hitherto eluded him. It is said that as Jubilee is working on merger plans, the Cord outfit also wants to rejuvenate itself nationally to give Jubilee stiff challenge.
Charity Ngilu who was sacked from the cabinet is said of late to have no respect for Jubilee even if she were to be reinstated today.
She blames Uhuru for having fallen to tricks by his deputy president William Ruto and majority leader Aden Duale to make her the sacrificial lamb. Ngilu for years had no time for Kalonzo as they read from different scripts and pundits question whether this time round, it will be the same political scenario if she returns the opposition.
Ngilu, known to be a political schemer for survival, will pave way to Machakos governor Alfred Mutua as Jubilee pointman in Ukambani.
