State House Finally Give a Detailed Explaination as Why JOHO’s Bodyguards Were Withdrawn

The State House has given an explanation following the withdrawal of security detail attached to Opposition governors Hassan Joho and Amason Kingi.

Joho and Kingi had their bodyguards withdrawn on Friday, January 6 after they criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta for abandoning the Coast region.

While addressing the press in Mombasa, State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu denied the move was political saying it was part of a security reorganisation in the region.

” Reorganisations happen across the country all the time. Local commands make locals decisions and we should not jump into conclusion” stated Esipisu.

“It is the responsibility of the Government to provide security for all Kenyans, not just the governors or a few individuals,” Esipisu added.

Speaking during a media briefing in Mombasa, he noted that there had been fewer incidents of insecurity at the Coast in the past two years owing to increased surveillance and the Operation Linda Boni in Lamu County.

Meanwhile, the governors’ party, Orange Democratic Movement has demanded the immediate reinstatement of the security detail.

In a statement, ODM alluded that the jubilee regime had made it a habit to frustrate Joho whenever he came down hard on it.

It is only in December, last year that the High Court ordered the government to reinstate Joho’s firearm license and stop harassing him.
