I don’t know what else speaks volumes of the epitome of political opulence than having in your corner a sh 1 Billion home. Well whoever said, ‘ujaluo ni gharama’ was quite honest. Proving that being Luo is a lifestyle is former Prime Minister, ODM leader and political icon, Raila Odinga, building a ksh1 billion palatial mansion in located in Riat Hills, Kisumu.
The building which is still under construction for a few years now, has an estimated 74 rooms, close to 10 bedrooms- including Raila’s master bedroom all upstairs, according to the Star. It has four expansive kitchens, two main conference rooms, two small conference rooms and many offices.
Raila’s mansion which had been dubbed his ‘private state house’ has since create its own leash of controversy that saw him dismiss claims that it wasn’t meant to be a private residential home. The structure would instead house Raila Odinga Foundation, Green Outreach Foundation-Africa and conference, media, recreational and office facilities for hire.
