Many CORD supporters were surprised by their leader Raila Odinga after he cancelled planned prayer rally at the last minute that was to be held over the past weekend.
Speaking from Machakos,Senator Johnston Muthama confirmed the cancellation of the meeting,saying the rally would now be held on 26th of this month at the same venue.

He however explained that PM Raila postponed the rally to allow him and his companions,who had been arrested and confined at Pangani and Muthaiga Police headquarters over hate speech,enough time to rest and be with their families.
“The rally was meant for me and my friends but we needed time to rest. I feel tired, exhausted and cannot manage to attend it,” said Muthama.
Governor Alfred Mutua had given CORD the permission to go ahead with the rally but cautioned their supporters against bringing violence and disrupting peace in Machakos
“We have 500 functioning CCTV cameras as well as a rapid response unit to protect the property and lives of our people.”
“We will not allow any hooliganism of any kind,” said Mutua.
